ZON firmly believes in the clock as the key sales tool for the day trade. With the launch of KOSMOS, the auction plays a pioneering role in the fruit and vegetable sector. The latest KOSMOS version – which offers, among others, more possibilities for the Multi-Grower auctioning – has been fully operational since the end of March. The extra software wishes were determined in a fit-gap analysis and will be integrated in KOSMOS in the next few years.

ZON makes use of the new generation of possibilities that KOSMOS, our trading and information platform in the cloud, has to offer. Both the auction room buyers and remote buyers switch to the sale via KOSMOS, accounting for 300 users on one clock.

KOSMOS offers more flexibility in the block sale and the Multi-Grower auctioning, allowing ZON to respond to the increasing demand from the growers to be able to sell ‘by name’. “Our buyers find KOSMOS a very user-friendly auction system and also the growers who have seen the use of KOSMOS are very satisfied with the new possibilities”, says Els Van Herpen, Manager Clock sale.

ZON is currently using the standard layout of the KOSMOS buyer screen, but in the long term, the clock buyers will be able to adjust the settings according to their preferences. “In the next few years we will focus on the further development in the use of the clock system in order to continue to connect with our buyers and growers. We want to serve our customers at the clock with the widest range as possible”, says Els van Herpen.

New KOSMOS version 21.2 as a stable basis

“When the first large fruit and vegetable auction ZON chose KOSMOS, we knew that we had to expand the standard KOSMOS version with the ‘business rules’ specific to the sector,” says Patrick Bauwens, E-Trade Manager at Aucxis. The necessary extra software changes – such as displaying product pictures, making prebids, using the KOSMOS app etc. – will be implemented in the next few years. In this way, KOSMOS will gradually have more and more to offer to the users at ZON.”

“With the launch of KOSMOS V21.2 at ZON, we have built a solid base which can be integrated in other fruit and vegetable auctions,” he concludes.
